Most Beloved Flower

Once upon a time the Angel of the Flowers came down to earth
to search for the flower she loved the most.

 She came upon a gay tulip and asked:
Where would you like most of all to live?

 “I would like to live by a castle and have a princess touch me
and tell me how beautiful I am, said the tulip.
 

 The angel asked the rose the same question. 
“I want to climb the castle walls, was the answer.

 And the small violet preferred to stay in the shady woods by the cool brook.

 The Angel of the Flowers went on until she found a sturdy dandelion. 
“Where would you most like to live?
’

 “Oh,” said the dandelion, I want to live where children play
– in meadows and city yards.”

 “You are the one I love most, said the angel. 
“Your golden color shall blossom everywhere.”
 

 That is why dandelions push their heads up all over city and country,
and have such a long life.
