The photographer was sure that he was going

 to see the end of his huskies when the polar bear

 materialized out of the  blue, as it were:

A war ready to happen.

Obviously it was a well-fed Bear...

Instead...

 The bear just made a friendly gesture.

Which was very well reciprocate

And they started playing with each other. 

 Like old friends.

The Polar Bear returned every night that week to play with the dogs..
